I bought a jasmine last year, for the flower but mainly for the scent. It only went in late so it didn`t flower. This year it is nice and lush and to my surprise it has red buds on it. [IMG]

Somebody please tell me that the red flowers produce the same scent as the white ones [IMG]

I`ve put this in the wrong section haven`t I [IMG]

Hi, pip. I have Jasminum polyanthum which has pink buds opening to highly scented flowers. It has pairs of leaves comprising seven leaflets. It is only marginally hardy and I believe sold as a houseplant in the UK.

Jasminum x stephanense has pink flowers and is lightly scented. It has downy grey-green leaves of five leaflets. It is a little more hardy.

Jasmine officinale is the common white Jasmine and Jasmine grandiflorum also has pink buds opening to white fragrant flowers between July and September, which is what you may have.

    I don't know of a red Jasmine.

Yes, I don't think Jasmine is a Pest, Disease or Cure although it could be a cure if you were feeling down and got of waft of its wonderful fragrance!

This Jasmine could become one, this was an indoor pot plant when we bought it. imagine these two pics joined (they overlap, it's the same window in both pics)

We have to keep it trimmed round the window if we want to open it, and also disentangle it from the gutter.

    Cheers MIKE

Hi LofL [IMG] I hope that you are right and it does turn out to be a white one although they do sell a red one in my local supermarket towards June/July time every year.

Evening, pip. [IMG] All I can say is, if yours is truly a red Jasmine, may I please have a cutting as I don't like the white against my white walls! [IMG]
