Can anyone please help, is this a jasmine or not, it has a lovely scent, especially evenings, it climbs but not as vigerous as the common jasmine, & has larger pointed leaves, bought it & it is growing in Portugal. many thanks Sue[IMG]

It is indeed Sue, Trachelospermum jasminoides, Star Jasmine. That's a lovely specimen you've got there. Water it freely and give a balanced liquid fertiliser monthly during the growing season.

      Hi Sueliz

I think it's probably the star jasmine, Trachelospermum jasminoides, which has lovely evergreen leaves and slightly twisted white flowers which smell gorgeous. I've heard it described as 'bubblegum'. You can grow in the UK, too, but it is not reliably hardy.

Hee hee. Beat me to it, Boghopper. What I don't know is whether it is actually part of the jasmine family, or just rather similar, if you see what I mean.

PS Why do I always go to write 'Bogtrotter' rather than 'Boghopper'? I think it must be a touch of the Roald Dahls.

Star Jasmine is just the common name of T.jasminoides, it isn`t a member of the Jasminum ( Jasmine ) family. Also it is a climber whereas the true Jasmine isn`t.:D:D:dbgrtmb:
