              TV Soaps were something I avoided like the plague but Jean Alexander was a real trooper starting in the Theatre before finding a better career on the little screen and played a lot of roles to perfection as well as being "Hilda". Not many left like her, I'm afraid.:dunno::coffee:

                    On cleaning: 'Folk seem to think shifting muck's easy, but it isn't. It's an art.'

                    On romance: 'Anyone caught trying to undo my tiny buttons is going to get his mucky paws slapped."

                    On training men: 'Ave you tried mekin' his belly suffer? It works wonder wi' my Stan - three days of burnt dinner an' no drippin' in the pantry an' he's like putty in me 'ands.'

                    On looks: 'I were fourteen when I first decided me face didn't suit me."
