A friend just gave me a few tubers he had left over from some he bought on ebay for Jerusalem Artichoke. Anybody know if it is too late to plant them and get a crop this year at all? Should i hold them over till next year to stop them rotting in the ground?

I was planning on planting them in a self contained square wooden compost bin next to my garage. That way i figure I can keep them under control a little better :)

Heh, heh, I doubt it, you'll miss one tiny tuber when harvesting and that'll be it.

I should just bung them in. What've you got to lose?

Thanks Madahhia :) Yes i think i will do that. Like you say, nothing to lose. The butternut squash i tried growing in there last year was a complete waste of time so... :)
The plan is to leave that compost bin doing nothing but growing these artichokes from here on in anyway. There is no earth beyond that bin. Only concrete for about 3 meters :) So it should remain well contained between the boundaries of the bins wooden walls :)

Thanks again...will see how it goes :)
