Jessops

I've just heard Jessops have gone into administration. Our only decent photography shop on the island.

 

Yes a real shame Sheal. Our nearest closed a year ago. I used to enjoy browsing the window display of new and second hand SLRs and latterly DSLRs while Mrs W was shopping in Marks and Sparks next door.
In recent years they just couldn't compete with on-line discount retailers.
Really sorry for all those folks who have just lost their jobs!

 

This is the second shop we've lost in a couple of months, the other one was a local business.

I was half hoping to bag some good Quality Carl Zeis Glass

Shame that many have now lost their employment

They had a weird marketing set up, on line price, 20% less than shop
Order on line, then go to the shop within half and hour, pay and pick up goods
Go direct to the shop and they were not allowed to match on line price, so pop
next door the the library, go on comp order on line, and go back to shop
Oh that is fine sir here is your equipment ????

I recently bought an expensive (to me TRIPOD)
I did the Jessops thing, then was going next morning to pick it up
On the way off Jessops site I met another tog site, same price delivered by
courier before noon following day, so I saved the fuel costs and had a nice morning
at home, good delivered at 09:15
