I've clicked to make the ads go away. Could someone make the superfluous apostrophe in 'ad's' (sic) go away too? It gives me the eebie-jeebies. Sorry. Just can't help it. :hehe:

Since an ' is used to signify that there are some letters missing then the ' in ad's is technically correct as the letters 'vertisment' have been omitted. Still looks wrong though.

Hmmm. Well, apostrophes are used to show the contraction of two words, as in they'll. They are also used to show omission in phrases such as 'o'clock'. However, I think that using one to show the omission of --vertisement from the slangy short form 'ads' may be pushing things a little. It just looks ugly. You'd be better off writing the word in full. Never mind - off to work on my ab's. :hehe:.

... or what about 'click to make the adverts go away'. Accepted, informal word - no nasty apostrophe needed!

    Hi Daisees

It appears on the home page under the advertisements. Forum users who have donated to the site will no longer see it.

Almost the last line on the page is "Click here to Donate and to make ad's go away!"
    Copied and pasted today.

Ahh! Now I see it :thumb:. The sentence at the top of the page has been altered but the one at the bottom hasn't. I don't scroll down to the bottom so have never seen it :).
