My gardening adventures this year commenced with growing a lot of stuff from seed, in the house, on windowsills; and in my haste, I failed to correctly protect a couple of the windowsills, with the net result being that they got stained and the paint cracked.

So, this morning, I decided to set about sorting them, starting by sanding them down and then giving them a lick of nice new brilliant white.

Trouble was, as soon as I had done them, they were screaming at the top of their lungs "nice new paint!!!" and completely embarrassing the skirting board below - so I painted that too.

Fast forward to this evening, and I have ended up painting all the woodwork on the entire staircase, half the living room and the bathroom, and am going to have to emulsion the stairs and living room tomorrow as the new paint on the woodwork is making the walls look grubby!

So much for a five minute job!

Always buy "Antique White" instead of "Brilliant White". There speaks the voice of experience!

Good idea for touching up or repairing a couple of small areas.

Having said that, now it is all done, its really freshened the place up (amazing how quick magnolia and white get tired), and it looks really good - so in the long run its been worth it.

I 've stripped all the paint in my place and colour varnished all the woodwork in dark oak. I won't have to touch it for years. :)

Sounds nice Sheal - sadly, as I rent I have to work with it as it is.

Is that tile grout cleaning stuff? try bleach works on our bathroom wall tiles (above the bath) very well.

Do NOT mix the bleach with any other cleaning agent

It produces CHLORINE GAS, that damages your lungs, possibly for Life

Also use dilute bleach as stong bleach can also damage your lungs
