[IMG] Well if you watch it tonight Kandy, my friend Bob Tovey takes some Hares down to Johnny's new land. He caught them & transported them. It was last April when they took them down, just before all that dry weather we had had early on came to an end...!! As far as we know they have bred... I shall ask him if he knows for certain now... [IMG] ;) So don't forget to watch..!! :D

Great Tuesday night viewing more so with it being preceeded by An island parish.

Think the pond is fantastic and the hide which is uses to educate the local children is great.

Not to sure about the floating hide used in last weeks show [IMG]

Kandy , you can watch it online on the bbc website, they archive most programs on a time limit basis to allow you to watch again.

[IMG] Well it was good to see Bob, his son Brian was also there too. What beautiful creatures the hares were too. You just never get an opportunity to see them that close, but also to see how strong they are. It was all Brian could do to hold them at times... I think it is wonderful that these hares were given the chance of new homes. Whether Johnny's land or the land owner. Good to see animal management working... [IMG]

Hi Marley, loved seeing the hares and they don't half run :D

When we first moved to this new villagethere used to be a small group of hares and one was occasionaly seen wandering down our lane.Sadly they either got run over outside of the village like the badgers are or they just had to find somewhere else to live

One Saturday afternoon when we was taking Tina for a walk on some wasteland within the village that is to become a public open space when I suddenly caught something out of the corner of my eye.I stopped and looked to the side of me and there sitting motionless was a Leveret  I quietly called out to Stuart and he turned round just in time to see it taking flight.Tina chased after it but by then she was getting quiet elderly so couldn't keep up with it.It is a lasting memory I shall have of ths fantastic animal, and it is nice to see Johnny and your friend Bob taking the time to enjoy and preserve them [IMG]

[IMG] Yes, it was a good program... Bob is a great character [IMG] & has re-homed allot of hares now to different parts of the country where they had died out. It seems to be a very successful program too as most of them seem to take to the new homes & because the land owners want them to stay there is a sort of protection for the first year. I hope it carries on working & maybe it can be done with other animals... [IMG]

What great country wise folk! [IMG] Long may such people reign.

Marley,is he related to the Tovey's from Cirencester,Plumbers now I think but years ago they fitted the original windows in the Agricultural College. They are stamped with their name.

[IMG] They are some of the nicest people I know Pal.. [IMG]

As for them being related to the Cirencester Tovey's I have no idea. I shall ask him. I know Bob's parents were butchers in the village & his granparents before, but not sure about relatives in Ciren'.. I will probably see him at the weekend so will ask him... ;) [IMG]
