Hi Borrows, what setting have you got the camera set to? For shots like these then I would put the dial onto Auto and then I would aim the camera and get Joyce just where you want her in the LCD screen or viewfinder depending on what camera you are using.

Press the button down halfway until you see the image coming into focus.Try not to move forward when you do it.When you are happy that the subject looks ok then press the button down the whole way and hopefully it will come out fine.

Many is the time I have taken even macro photos which look ok until I look at them blown up and then find out they are blurred.Even zooming in when reviewing the shot they can look ok but when I put them on the computer they look blurred.

Even if there isn't enough light in the room,it can do the same thing so sometimes I take a number of photos ones with the flash on and ones with it off,or ones with the lights on and ones with the lights off.Just keep practising.I can sometimes take a dozen photos before I get one I am happy with [IMG]

It never hurts to ask for advice on here because that is what we are here for...as well as answering gardening questions [IMG]

PS You almost had it in the second photo,so just keep trying and asking...

    Hi Kandy

Yes, i tried different setting. I'm still learning. The instruction book confuses me on the first pages!

Just want to put my baby (Joyce) on here. She doesn't look as good as she is.

As i have said before, probably be a year before i get decent pics. Never mind. Keep on.

Won't get as good as you, but can try & that's what keeps us trying ;) .

    Cheers

    Hi Borrowers,

It all takes time and patience,Rome wasn't built in a day you know :D

I tried reading the manual but it was all double dutch to me so I just do my own thing.I am still practising and learning as I go along.I don't think those instruction books are user or learner friendly.

Don't put yourself down, your photos are ok for a first attempt. [IMG]

Just keep putting them up and we will all keep advising and helping until you crack it.We all had to start somewhere. Not everyone has the natural ability to take fantastic photos,I wish mine were as good as some of the photos that are put up on here.A lot of it is just having the right conditions with which to take a really good photo. borrowers - keep going! maybe try switching your metering mode to spot. Its on pattern at the mo. that way i think it will set the exposure for the object your focusing on and not try to compensate for the dark background. Hopefully your shutter times should go down then, they are at around 1/20th of a second at the mo. It might seem quick but it isn't really so the slightest movement of you or the dog will be noticable as blurring.

alternatively, try taking the photo's outside, the light will be brighter so again your shutter speeds should be quicker.

mainly, as everyone else says, keep trying!!! [IMG]

    imp - you'll get bored

Kathy3 - yes she is beautiful. of course we all think our pets are, but mine is [IMG] Yes she is spoiled rotten.

Kandy - manual is dd to me too! i'm trying to read it now. Put it on 'pet' spoke, to take the last few photos. no diff. must just be me, but i will keep trying.

glenqw - look above! i'm no good. my camera is a Panasonic DX12. Think it's on the way out cos it was the one we got offered. but seems good to us. Just can't understand the manual, like Kandy said. Can do loads of things with it, apparantly, but 'can't do'.

Never mind & thank you for responding. I will get some photo's here & will never bore of looking at yours

    cheers

Thanks Walnut, yes she is - how could you tell that from a photo?

I wish we could get the photo's of when she was younger put up on here, she's 12 now, but think i would need a scanner for that. As i have trouble working PC & digi camera i don't think i need any more 'equipment' at the moment

    cheers
