Well done Scotkat, more people should go, it doesn't hurt and you get tea and biscuits afterwards (but I don't like tea)

Well done Scotkat. What type of award do you get for 46 pints?
          That's a serious amount :love30:

Well done Kath, I heard an advert on the radio this afternoon asking people to donate now, since with the jubilee, footie & olympics a lot of people haven't found time to donate. I didn't know it was National Blood Donors day, they kept that bit quiet.

No2 daughter was there on Tuesday, with her 8 year old sitting watching

Alarm went off, and attendant says I have never heard that alarm before
called supervisor over, and the machine had taken double, the alarm was
to alert them that the weight was too much
She got a couple of extra biscuits, and an extra 15 min lie down :)

When at sea, every port we visited we were requested to give blood
A big take up as you got a pint of booze for a pint of blood
One guy was in great demand as he had, AB neg, and he got double the booze
only he never yet lasted the night on the town out :roflol:

              It is TOTALLY different now
Only the worst was in Gibraltar
They stuck an ordinary needle in your arm, attacthed to a poly bag that you held with both hands in your lap, You just felt this warming sensation, looked down and saw YOUR blood filling this poly bag getting warm, The beer was chilled better though :) (I do not know how blood outside the body can feel warmer than in your body)

I'm AB neg and used to give blood but unfortunately I can't now because I'm on medication.

Such a worthwhile thing to do because it quite literally saves lives.

I got to 28 pints but had to withdraw from the scheme due to medical condition. I used to have mine "split into 2" - apparently I had good clotting factor???
