For three days I've been in agony, with what I thought was my wisdom teeth growing, which caused me to not be able to sleep at all (I got a few hours sleeping upright against a wardrobe), my entire head has been throbbing ever since, so decided to go hospital tonight, and I have tonsillitis.. the human body, such a weird thing.

Ouch, hope you feel better soon and that you managed to get some sleep.:grphg: Was it Hope (or Salford Royal as it's now known)?

Although not native to Salford I have lived here for ten years :blue thumb:

Hope all is well now Kyle tooth ache is awful , but hopefully a course of antibiotics will sort your tonsils out :dbgrtmb: They used to remove them when I was a teenager !
The best thing for tonsillitis is a big bag of peanut brittle or cinder toffee :snork:

At least you know what's wrong now and that it can be sorted easily. Get some rest and let the meds do their job and you will feel better soon. Take care of yourself Kyle and heal up quick!

            Treatments for tonsillitis

Treatment for tonsillitis will depend in part on the cause. To determine the cause your doctor may perform a throat swab culture. This test involves gently swabbing the back of the throat close to the tonsils with a cotton swab. A lab test can detect a bacterial infection. A viral infection will not show on the test, but may be assumed if the test for bacteria is negative.
If tests reveal bacteria, treatment may consist of antibiotics to cure the infection. Although symptoms are likely to improve within two or three days after starting the antibiotic, it's important to take all of the medication your doctor prescribes to make sure the bacteria are gone.
If the tonsillitis is caused by a virus, antibiotics won't work and your body will fight off the infection on its own. In the meantime there are things you can do to feel better, regardless of the cause. They include:
            • Get enough rest
            • Drink warm or very cold fluids to ease throat pain
            • Eat smooth foods, such as flavoured jellies, ice cream or apple puree
            • Use a cool-mist vaporiser or humidifier in your room
            • Gargle with warm salt water
            • Suck on lozenges (for example containing benzocaine or other anaesthetics)
            • Take over-the-counter pain relievers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen

Hope it clears up soon. I had mine removed when I was six. They always used to give kids ice cream the day after the op and when I didn't get mine I screamed like mad until I got it :dbgrtmb:. I haven't changed much since then :heehee:

I had mine out when I was about 8 yrs old. At the Hospital I was in you were allowed out of Hospital when you could eat a portion of Ox Liver.
Apparently it showed the throat had healed sufficiently to require no further treatment.
