These yellow courgettes are in a very large pot in the veggie patch -

Some courgette and pumpkin seeds that I grew from seeds actually grew (a rarity with me) and then I bought a Hoikaido pumpkin plant too, and so we ran out of space in the veggie patch. Even after giving the neighbours courgette plantlets, we still had some left over, so we put them in pots out front on the driveway.

This is the pumpkin plant -

and this is the hoikaido pumpkin (on the left) and a green striped courgette on the right -

Hubby has put plant brackets on the fence to support them.

The cougettes look great K G , the pumpkins also look healthy but I think they would be more likely to give a good crop if they were in a bigger container or in the earth. I have heard of people getting good results from planting them on a compost heap, though maybe you just want them for the foliage. Ornamental gourds are easy to grow and a bit of a novelty (but not edible) and you might get away with using a smaller container with them, happy gardening.

I have tried for a couple of years to grow courgettes without success, this year i decided to use up the 4 seeds left over fromt he last two years.
All 4 seeds grew and I planted them up in grow bags, 2 plans to each grow bag and would you believe it........the plants are growing well.

I suppose it points to the fact that the soil in my veg patch is not particularly healthy but I'm working hard to make it better.
What has surprised me is that there are aobut 4 courgettes ready to be picked.
    Yipeeeeeeeee....my first home grown courgettes.:D:D:D

They're looking good, Kedi :thumb: :)

The courgettes ar doing very well but as Digger says, if you want to get good edible squash they will need bigger containers.

Good luck with it all. :D :D

Thanks Digger and Shiney. If they do well this year in these small pots, then I'll look for larger ones in the sales for next year. Or perhaps just use these black builders tubs, they are a good size.

I am quite pleased with them in the driveway and even Mr K says they look OK. Makes a change from having just flowers. Here you can see how they all look now -

These are the striped green courgettes in the middle pot and they are doing quite well -

Well done with yours, Init. :thumb: Make sure you try Shiney's courgette soup, it is sooooo delicious. I plan on making it within the next few days as two of the yellow courgettes in the veggie patch (see first photo) are ready for picking now.

Don't give up, Andy, once they get going, then you have to watch out that they don't clobber you. :D No kidding.
