this is a question addressed to all those who love their dog as a member of the family...:doggieshmooze: :imphrt:
If you were to choose a kennel to leave your dog for a while :cry3:, what would you foremost consider, bearing in mind the happiness and wellbeing of your pet...?

Visit first, there should be no smell, are the doors secure, how many times are they "walked" per day is that solo or in a pack, how many hours are they left unchecked, most kennel staff finish and lock up by a set time, is this from ie, 6pm -7 am, will there be someone on hand through the night hours, will your dog have access to outdoors, my kennel has a run along the front of each kennel, sectioned so each dog has an outdoor space, a place to sleep, dog basket, as these can be cleaned after each use, with bedding, although I always provide 2 of her own, food, I always take Maddies, greyhound mix, to avoid dietary changes, with the appropriate amount of pre cooked chicken, portioned out and ready frozen so they can thaw one for every day, but most kennels stock a vast range, toys are not encouraged as a dog can get possessive, and most important do they actually like dogs, not just the most money we can make.

Nothing much left to add to that, except: check their reviews/feedback if they have a social media/online presence.

thank you so far...what worries me a little bit is the amount of noise that each barking dog produces in the "room" nearby and, I think, the novice dogs must be terrified...:yikes:

The only problem I have with that is I wonder how many are genuine or placed by friends and family.

It`s amazing how quiet kennels can be when nobody in there, a lot are attention seekers or just calling for "their" human if they see people.

My sister and BiL are quite experienced at dog training etc.
They always put the dogs in a kennels for a day, before leaving them for any length of time, it allows the dogs to get used to the place before being left for a
            long stretch.
Plus they always ask other dog owners about the best places.
