Hi GG, I don't think I have seen any Keswickians on here but I'm a southern fan of Keswick and the area [IMG] [IMG] . I know it pretty well.

I shall be up there in June and in September. I reckon a lot of the locals are fed up with us tourists [IMG] [IMG] but I suppose we are a major industry.

Do you live in Keswick itself?

    yes i do!

yes some people do get sick of them but they are our main 'industry'.

i can understand some people frustration sometimes because my uncle was once told last year he shouldnt be allowed to drive in keswick because people like to walk in it!!

Some people are a bit thick, aren't they [IMG] . One of the sad things in the Lake District is the way the tourists have been the cause of the loss of local shops that have been replaced by touristy type shops. Also they have caused the boom in the house market that has priced first time buyers out.

I think that the area is the loveliest part of the country and I still bring small groups up a couple of times a year to walk there.

Last year I put a thread on here about the Lake District. Here is a link to it.

    the property prices are extortionet

a 2 bed bungalow in borrowdale went for £500 000

a lot of the houses go to peole not living in the lake district who either live in them or rent them out as holiday cottages. My mum runs a business which manages them and provides a caretaker.
