Kidney beans

    I use a lot of red kidney beans in cooking,can anyone help me. How do i go about growing them and can i use the dry ones i buy in the supermarket. [​IMG]

    Hi, jo. I also use them, basically because I like chillis!

    My theory on this one is, isn't it cheaper to buy them rather than grow them ... or do you really use so many of them? Whoa, and if you do I'll keep my distance! The 24-hour soaking definitely puts me off ... it was a thing done in the States in the 60s. Think I've grown out of that!

    Hi lol, Yes i know their cheap to buy but i just fancy the challenge.
    We do eat a lot of chilli con carne and as o/h also enjoys the dish i'm not bothered if my breath is a bit ugh!!

    Home grown beans taste far superior to shop bought - otherwise I'd weep over the cost and time involved ;) Yes, try growing the supermarket beans (why not? it's only a handful of beans) and take a look at www.beansandherbs.co.uk for varieties that will do in the UK. We grow our own Borlotti and giant white Greek beans [​IMG]

    Any hints about red kidney beans,do i soak them first or just sow them in pots?.
