Well here i am sat in nuneaton hospital since 1am friday morning, doped out of my head on morphine and who knows what else, now the proud owner of two >5mm kidney stones one of which has blocked a pipe (they think, from xrays, wont know for sure till they can CT scan me on monday)

Never felt pain like this before in my life, nor do i want to ever again ... even when i fell off a horse in 2004 and broke two vertebrae, at least morphine worked then ...

    Hew ho ... just looking for sympathy i guess ... :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-(

Commiserations to you Len, I hope you recover quickly. A colleague was rushed into hospital last week with a kidney stone, he described the pain similar to yours, but it was soon over and hes back at work now.

Poor you! :cry3:any idea how long they will keep you in hospital? You will probably have to have a little intervention done to get rid of it, and it is not always necessary to "cut" anything.
Good luck and keep us posted...

Sorry to hear of your pain Len. I hope you're better soon.

I once passed a stone. I'd been getting dull but intense pains in my kidney area for a couple of weeks, and was waiting for my appointment with the GP to come round so I could get it sorted. About a day before the appointment, I went to the loo. There I was doing a wee when suddenly it just stopped for a second and I felt like someone had taken a red hot knife and stabbed me with it right through my lower back, through my lower abdomen and out the front. I didn't realise what had happened at the time. I was in so much pain I thought I was dying. I tried to shout the wife who was down stairs to phone an ambulance but found I couldn't even shout. I had to just stand there leaning against the wall for several minutes until the pain subsided enough for me to sort myself out and stagger downstairs.

After that intense pain subsided, the pains in my kidney area that had prompted me to book an appointment with the GP in the first place also subsided very rapidly, to the point where by the time I spoke to the GP a day or so later, I felt fine. I described all my symptoms and how it had got worse until the loo incident when I thought I was dying. He concluded that I'd passed a stone, and he said totally matter of fact that its not as uncommon as it sounds, and that it is one of the most painful things that can happen.

Well, she would certainly cheer ME up :)

I once had Gallstones, VERY painful, so I can imagine what you're going through Len.
Still, you're in the right place, so hopefully they'll soon have you sorted :thumb:

    Cheers...Freddy.
