    Roders.

    I presume you are able to get into the internet - otherwise you could not have made your post. In which case your Internet Explorer must be working.

    Are you saying your home page has been set to finderg.com? If so you can reset it to anything you like. I am on Windows 98 - so it may not be exactly the same. From the Internet Explorer menu choose Tools/Options. Mine opens on the General page and at the top it shows you your home page. I always leave mine blank - saves time - but you can set it to whatever you want.

    If this cures the problem, it was a one off and not a virus - nasty sites can do this. However sometimes you can change it, but it always changes back to findberg.com. That means there is a small program on your machine making the change - that is a virus of sorts.

    Here is some advice from an IT professional.

    Make sure you have your antivirus software up to date. Then download these anti-spyware software and run their scans. You should download
    * lavasoft ad-aware
    * Spybot - Search & Destroy
    * a-squared Anti-Malware

    Trend have a very good service which detects and removes nasties on-line. The beauty of this is that it is always up to date. It can be slow if you do not have broadband though.

    McAfee also have a scan but it only detects, not much use. A few firms detect then try to sell the removal software but Trend's is completely free.

    on-line scan
