kishmari stone

    This is not a hobbie as such, thought you may be interested, I started collecting these pieces 4 years ago from goa, India.
    the kishmari people collect this natural stone from the hills and sculpt it into lovely pieces.
    This elephant is carved and inside they put another elephant piece in the centre.
    They bring their pieces and sell them in goa.

    this is an egg and inside is an elephant which the kishmari people are famed for doing

    this is one of my recent purchases when i went to goa, candle stick holder.

    this young man is from kishmari he works in the beach shacks and brings his work with him.
    As demonstrated he dips the stone in petrol to bring out the natural colour in the stone and each piece can be slightly different in colour from browns to greens and orange shades.

    wildflower they have loads of trinket boxes over there, my friends that go have bought a lot and they also have fabulous carved wood trinket boxes.
