They are just gorgous, aren't they. I love May with all the flowering shrubs & trees, so beautiful.

    What a lovely picture!

Fran, what is a sesbania? I googled for pictures and got some lovely red flowers but lots of varieties, tell us more!
Also near me are several lovely trees very similar to laburnums, but with white flowers and smaller racemes. Any one know this one?

    Sesbania syn Daubentonia. Luguminosae/papilionacea

Unfortunately it is tender - but it is a gorgious tree/shrub. I brought some seed back from Florida - geminated and grew on in the greenhouse. When it grew to big for the greenhouse I overwintered it on the patio and then put it in the border - and at last it flowered. Sadly it did not survive the next winter - but I had cuttings. Imagine a laburnum with smaller pinnate leaves, and long racemes of scarlet flowers.

The cutting is now in a more sheltered spot having overwintered on the patio, and I have another cutting for insurance. If, with our milder winters I can get it to overwinter twill be magical.

Sadly the weedwitch friend in Florida who provided it has died. But she sent me some seed a couple of months ago as added insurance.
