I found a ladybird in my garden today (after much searching) and was overjoyed. However I put the little girl on my pepper/chilli plant which is suffering from aphids and all their nasty friends. She stayed there for 2 seconds and then flew away! I consoled myself that she was going to get her friends and tell them about the wonderful funning buffet. Any idea why? She was sat on top of one so she knew they were there.

Perhaps it is like taking a horse to water but you can't make him drink? Best to think she was going off to get her friends. I mean, bees and ants do that when they find a good source of food, don't they?

Craig, perhaps she had already eaten and was so full she felt too stuffed to eat another mouthful,a feeling we have all felt from time to time :D I have seen loads in my garden this afternoon since the sun has been shining, and they looked like they had more important things on their minds as opposed to eating :D

Just wash off the aphids with a jet of water for the time being, they will soon start noshing when they get hungry enough.Good Luck

thanks for your help. She didn't come back unfortunately (and I picked up a few more aphids) but I'm sure she was just busy with other things. Its nice to think summer's nearly here.
