Last year was worringly bad for ladybirds, I think I only saw literally 2 or 3 all year where as the year before the count would have been into hundreds, which is the norm for this area. Encouragingly though today (all be it very early) I have seen about a dozen ladybirds in several spots round the garden enjoying some of the warm sunshine we've had today. I'm hoping its a good sign and we'll get plenty in the garden again this year :)

I thought I saw a bee buzzing past the window Tuesday, but thought I must be mistaken.

Seeing quite a few ladybirds out now the weather is warmer, lets hope they survived the winter in quantity because it was so mild.

Just been upstairs and there is one on the window sill. Saw a bumble bee yesterday and 3 butterflies this morning in the garden.

              Rusty.

We've got about 3 ladybirds that I've seen, plus one butterfly/moth thing that decided to live indoors. No bees yet though, but then there aren't many flowers out up here yet.

Plenty of ladybirds here, have been for a couple of weeks. Very early, and lots of them, so hopefully that is bad news for Aphids :)

I've already seen more ladybirds than I did all last summer.#
Saw a tortoise shell butterfly today, and it looked in perfect condition.

Saw a tiny one on my washing, any one know when they start breeding.
              Found this information:
              • October- February: Adult ladybirds spend winter in a dormant state, known as 'overwintering'.
              • March- April: Adult ladybirds become active and leave their overwintering sites to find food, aphids (greenfly).
              • May: Male and female ladybirds mate.
              • June- July: Mated females lay eggs which hatch into immature stages called 'larvae'. Larvae feed on aphids and then form 'pupae'.
              • August: The new generation of adult ladybirds emerge from the pupae.
              • September: These new adults feed but do not mate until next spring after they have overwintered.
