Yet another ID required, please ...

These were taking from a moving car (nowhere convenient to stop) so it's the closest I could get ... I could crop into the one more if necessary.

    Thank you.

LoL - I have no idea - we don't have one of those down our street. But that's a terrific picture with the blue sky and that beautiful tree.

No idea LoL, a close up of the flowers and leaves would be nice.
Whatever it is, it looks like a good-un.

Thank you, Peter, it is beautiful, isn't it? I've seen it for a couple of years now and blooming like this in October/November/December.

pete, thought you'd have it in one. [IMG]

    Where is strongy?

Actually, we have to go by here again this week so I'll find a parking space and go stand on the EN125 ... a very dangerous road ... and take closeups. :D That will attract some attention and I'll probably get run over.

I'm here, taken my time wading through all the other posts. ;)
It could be Lagerstromea Indica, it can grow that high, it has the pyramidal Lilac flower shape too.
Cassia Javanica I think is too tropical and heat/humidity loving for the Algave.

I did think the cassia might be a bit too tropical strongy.
Lagerstromea crossed my mind, but then I'm comparing it with my poor heat starved plants.
Hows about Lagerstromea speciosa, or do you think thats might be a bit too tropical as well.

Possibly Pete, it's US planting zone is Southern Florida and Southern California so I think a little less hardy than Indica which grows comfortably in the Med. I am not 100% sure it is Lagerstroemia without seeing it closer (return visit Lol!) but that is what it looks like.

I'm thinking it's the Lagerstromea speciosa ... the L indica bloomed here in August ...

I couldn't find any good pictures on Goggle or Yahoo but found this of L speciosa on Flickr, which looks pretty similar ...

Although the L indica looks similar-ish, I think the panicles on the L speciosa look closer/larger ... and of course, there's the blooming period. I've only seen these two trees blooming this time of year and the other in the summer. The trees must have been quite large when planted as these road borders are only a few years old, the palms were quite small I remember.

I e-mailed the photos to my garden centre friend and he hasn't a clue and I have to report my findings back to him. :D

A return visit is planned, strongy. [IMG]

I have never seen Lag Speciosa Lol, only Indica, so I can't tell. It is probably hardier than online guides say.
The only one I have grown is Lag Indica 'Little Chief' a dwarf one many years ago. [IMG]

Same with me strongy, my indica budded up this year but the weather was so bad the buds never opened. First year for a long time.

What I think is the L indica is much smaller and quite popular here. There are several in front of our Lidl in Silves, pink and white ones but again, as mentioned above, bloom summertime.

We'll figure this one out no doubt as we have all the others. [IMG]

    Thank you, both of you.
