Hello! We recently bought a house and are trying to identify the many plants in the gardens. This is a large one next to the pool which has beautiful white blossoms early in the season. Right now though, there are no blooms but there are these strange stems coming out of the plant with a round ping-pong ball shaped green seed pod or fruit of some kind hanging off the end of it. The leaves are dark green. We are in Zone 6 of North America (southern Ontario).

Any help identifying it would be great. I have been searching online all day! :)

Ah ha! I did some searching on the name Aesculus and found the common name "Bottlebrush buckeye" which now jogged my memory that this is what the homeowners called it!

    thank you Pete!!
