Hi - last year I planted some pots a tad later on in the season. I grow I my garden, so I had planted I big black plastic dustbins.

Any way - I must of planted to late or or or, cos two of the bins did nothing. I left the bins out over winter and a few weeks ago started to sought through stuff. The bins Tha did produce pots, I sifted the compost, put that to use in the bottom of raised beds and containers and started again. As its half term I am off and ready to do more in the garden (feel like I am so behind this year) but the other bins are producing lots if foliage. Will the potatoes in there be edible? They have been out throughout Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb etc. Or should I just 'bin' (pun intended) the lot?

Help? This is only my second season of GYO.

Not quite sure I fully understand what you are asking, but if it's about last years potatoes re-growing then the new tubers will be perfectly edible. Don't eat the previous year's tubers they will be awful, but that will be obvious.

      Sorry for not being clear.

Last year I placed 3 - 4 tubers in a big plastic bin. But nothing happened that I could tell. That bin however has come alive and green foliage is sprouting out the top of the bin.

Is what is in there edible?

Yes, we frequently harvest ones which have grown from the babies we missed when digging up the crop. In fact there are some coming through now which are from three years ago, all perfectly edible.
