late spring pruning

    Hi i'm new to this, i'd like to know what anyone thinks of pruning back the new growth of wigela's and philadelphus back to 4-6 nodes. will this stop all the flowers next year? :scratch:i have alot of shade and the growth gets very lax

    Pruning Spring flowering shrubs like these just after flowering is fine, the new growth they make this year will carry the flowers next year.
