    Over the last few weeks I have taken cuttings from a variegated Weigela, a golden leafed Mock Orange, a variegated Hydrangea and a Salvia Hot Lips and they've all now rooted...:dancy:

    I've also taken cuttings from my mum's evergreen Magnolia 'Maryland' and a Magnolia 'Galaxy'; I know these will be more challenging but nothing to lose..:blue thumb:

      Here's a pic of one the successfully rooted cuttings; the variegated Hydrangea (a lacecap variety);

        Very nice! On a related note, I have some cuttings taken last week in an unheated prop in the greenhouse. Normally I'd expect them to root in late summer (!) but given the arctic nights we've been having should I give them a bit of bottom heat indoors?

        I find that bottom heat almost always helps - but we are scheduled for an Indian Summer (possibly).:snork:

        All my cuttings so far have been 'rooted' either in my coldframe or a small "blow-away" greenhouse and have rooted within a few weeks, but as we begin to get cooler weather I would expect to have provide more heat for most cuttings just to get them going, slight heat from a propergator as Peter says will do the job...:dbgrtmb:
