evening all. well a full day's work has been undertaken on my garden and am now totally exhausted.

after purchasing the Jamie Oliver Potato Compost to break up the soil on the borders at the grand total of £1 for 50l from homebase (unashamed plug), the soil is much much better after using 4 of them, so i've rebedded the fruit bushes i planted yesterday with it and i've moved the existing plants into another corner.

I dug out what felt like about 3 ton of stones, concrete, gravel and other such general waste from the corner (which coincidentally included some broken slabs burried at about 1ft down), and have now got:

    Blackberry
    Redcurrant
    Gooseberry
    Tayberry
    Raspberry
    Tulips
    Anemone
    Liatris
    Oxalis
    Redhot Poker
    Garlic
    Orange Starbust
A large clump of things i have yet to identify... i'll post some images when i can.

    Still to do:

    Lavender
    Aquilega
    Grass
    dwarf conifers at the back
basic veg (like carrots, potatoes etc.)

I've checked the boundaries to the flat, and have discovered i have the ownership of a rather nice border at the front, as well as a large grassed area to the side - so i've got a lot more i can do! yay!

any suggestions on people what to do next apart from turn over the existing soil?

Sit down and have a nice hot mug of tea with a few hobnobs. You deserve it!
