    Hello

I would like an instant hedge of about 1.5m tall and 3m wide. I was going to buy from hedges direct but saw that homebase have bamboo. Its much cheaper and ready on sale now. I know that it grows like mad so what is the best long term option and best for looking good.

    Any other suggestions very welcome.

    Thanks

I would steer well clear of bamboo, as it can get out of hand, and also looses a lot of leaves ...

if you do decide to go for bamboo, I have read that the black stemmed bamboo is not as invasive as the normal one

one advantage of using bamboo, is that you do not need to trim the top

also look at privet (needs trimming 2-3 times a year), cherry laurel, and Leyllandi

Privet only needs trimming once a year. Leylandii will soon get out of hand as will Cherry Laurel.

Agree with Dai, Privet is the best answer and if kept trimmed will look good.
