There's a beautiful one growing in my in-laws garden - the pale pink with dark pink centred flowers. How easy are they to take cuttings from? I've not done it with Lavatera before, so any advice would be great?

I'm thinking of bringing a pot of compost down soany cuttings can be put straight into it, but with no greenhouse and only windowsills, would it be better indoors or outdoors?

    Any suggestions?

I've grown lavatera from cuttings......easy peasy as softwood cuttings in summer but it's a bit late now. They root easily though so you may be lucky doing it on a windowsill if it doesn't get too cold. I think given the lateness of the season I would try hardwood and semi hardwood cuttings and forget about the soft ones. It's a good idea growing them from cuttings because Lavatera is a pretty short lived plant and if you have some coming along you will never be without them.
