Isn't it ridiculous that I only get time to post on here in the small hours of the morning!

Have been so swamped after losing Gramps in June that I've had no time at all, and I miss you all terribly!

We bought some lavender to put in a circular bed around the bird bath back in March. It said on every label Hidcote Blue. HA! What a joke. It is a very grey flowered variety and I am so disappointed. I have the labels but no receipt. Is there anything I can do?

Did you pay by debit/credit card? If so, the amount should show on your bank/credit card statement. Not as useful as a receipt, but worth a try perhaps?

If you bought it from somewhere decent and they know you (my local place know me by name now!) they might refund or replace as a goodwill gesture.

    Hi Victoria

Can't help with your shopping problems, I'm afraid, but lavender is pretty easy from cuttings, so the best way to get what you want is often to beg a few pieces from a plant which is the right colour. You do have to be a bit patient, but lavender grows quite quickly.

Incidentally, this lot, http://www.downderry-nursery.co.uk/, do mail order and have a fantastic range of plants. The nursery specialises in lavender.

I actually paid with gift vouchers specific to the nursery. I wasn't very impressed with them, they looked like the m and s of nurseries on the surface, but not much choice, and very unhelpful staff. Not looking good is it!

I'll give them a call. Thanks for the advice.
