We've started stocking this particular lavender at work, and wondered if anybody has any experience of it. The flowers are typical blue, with the "butterfly" at the top in white. However, the most striking thing about this plant is its scent. It's like a lavender with a citrus twist.

    Apologies for the poor picture

I saw a similar lavender on the coverage af Chelsea. A bit of internet research led me to believe it was tiara and I ordered one from here http://www.lavender.co.uk/onlinenursery.asp?catid=19&cat=Stoechas&pcatid=10#84
It is a bit of a disappointment though. The flowers are tiny and don't last very long at all. The scent is like camphor-different, but not especially nice.
I saw these the other day on the net somewhere. They seem to be more flower and less bracts. The scent sounds lovely.

It was all over the place in Italy a couple of years ago. It´s lovely, but not very hardy. Definitely needs frost free protection in winter.

I've tried a few of the stoechas, but not managed them through the winter, so they've been expensive annuals. I did have a pappilion (not sure the differences), which was hardier, and rather lovely (it was the 'common' one with long purple ears) but it got so leggy I had to keep it hacked back (using trimmings for cuttings) and I lost the lot in a hard winter.

Your one looks beautiful, and sounds lovely - but I don't know how you keep them over winter.
