help! we put down membrane over our moss ridden lawn and then covered it with stones. 6 weeks later, the grass, which was very sparse, is starting to come through. Can anybody recommend a weed killer/grasskiller that is not going to kill our plants or our pet cat.The drainage of the garden runs towards the flower beds. The garden is looking great but this problem is only going to grow. hope for some tips. ps lifting the 4ton of stones is not one we wish to hear.

A systemic dressing like Roundup is safe. Are you sure it's growing through or could it be new grass growing amongst the stones?

I would agree - round up or any glyophosphate spray - it becomes inert on contact with soil - and once dry will not be a problem for your cat, I also question whether this is grass from underneath or new grass. Even couch does not breach my membrane - sounds more like wind blown seed which will come to nothing - hopefully :D .

yes we had done the same and it was just grass that had blown in and grew it can obviously grow in very little soil. I just used round up but it pulled out with very little effort really.
