Have sown a new lawn and patched existing ones but never overseeded a full lawn.

Just wondered how to go on regarding cutting the lawn after overseeding without risking damaging or uprooting the new seedlings ?
Do you avoid cutting for a couple of weeks or just cut as normal but on a high setting ?

I'd wait till the seed have germinated, it may mean the established grass becomes longer than you like. I always think mowing with a rotary mower will hoover up the seed.

Like everyone else we all seem to have rotary type mowers these days which might suck up the seed rather than the cylinder mowers .

Generally pre-germinate the grass seed in a bit of fine compost, just enough so you see the very fine roots emerging; they do seem to establish quicker before the birds can get them.
