Lawn scarifier/ aerator

    Hi people,
    Last year I bought an electric scarifier/ aerator. When I used the aerator, it ripped right through the grass just like the scarifier. I know it sounds stupid but I'm thinking I should have used the aerator without the power off. Any tips from you veterans would be really helpful thanks
