So... Another chapter starts on the lawn. If it's not one thing, it's mushrooms!

This morning, i noticed that i had a little patch of mushrooms growing in my lawn? I've heard these are a good thing for a lawn, but not ideally what i'd like to have growing in all honesty.

What's the best way to get rid of these?

    What's causing these?

I didn't want to just cut them back incase this caused more to grow... thicker, BIGGER shroooms!!

Also, are these edible, poisonous or just generally pointless mushrooms?

Not edible and not really a problem either. They will disappear once you mow. They come up from the compost or whatever was in the soil to begin with.

Prolonged dampness will promote growth as well and they spread via spores.

OK, so i came back from work tonight and the mushrooms had died and shrivelled up and pretty much disappeared with no help from myself. I thought something might have eaten them but the stalks are still there just without any caps on the top?!

        Curiouser and curiouser!?

They are short lived and I don't think for one minute something has eaten them. :)

Let's hope your new round lawn doesn't turn into a giant fairy ring!
