    Hi all

A newbie here and to the gardening world. I have just bought my first house and I have inherited a horrible lawn. I'm keen to keep up with the Jones in the street and hopefully revive it with your help.

I have made a huge blunder already and cut it far too short, I've been away for the 2 weeks and I have come back to this.

The lawn is covered with moss and is very patchy, as you can see :)

What should I do to revive it??

    Thanks
    Dan

Welcome to Gardeners Corner DanT, :)

First of all you need to tackle the moss by scarifying, that is, raking it out with a lawn rake. You can buy moss killer but it will still have to be raked out after treatment. Re-seed the parts that are bare (instructions on the box) mixing the seed with a light covering of soil and water every day if it doesn't rain until it's established. There are different grades of grass seed, a general purpose one would probably suit your needs.
