    Hi,

In our copy of Garden News this week was a garden guide supplement by Neudorff including its Clean Lawn product which said there is no or little need to scarify out the lawn thatch as their product would break it down.

Anyone used it ?.... sounds good if true ...

Details here - Neudorff : Lawn care

Hi @ricky101 - hmm I'm not convinced. Where in that advert does it claim it breaks it down - or was there more info? It may be one of these 'implied' claims that you often see on TV adverts - something you can't hold them to.

this is like MO Bacter where the product acts against moss but this claims to include micros to eat away the thatch which is already found in lawns.
As this is a slow release product the grass growth is slower so thatch levels will not be created at the rate of a fertiliser using a high N in general. The rest of the advert is just basic info on lawn care that any fertiliser supports.
A low N feed will have the same effect with regards to thatch buildup.
Weed and feeds are high N and the herbicides effect micro levels hence why thatch build up increases.
Thatch needs to be monitored, you don't want an excessive build up but you need it at the same time so its a case of looking at a sample plugs. Thatch helps to prevent movement of pesticides and helps with summer heat stress. Its just a case of looking before going in heavy handed.
Micros include earthworms and other borrowing insects.
You may notice the advert says no scarifying necessary but their web page say you can scarify less which is a contradiction.
Add in other factors like Ph levels, soil type, compaction and so on then you realise there is no magic product that gives you a great lawn with a single use product.
Will this product work, yes it will but it’s like every other fertiliser found on the market that works as intended.

Seems its been around for a couple of years, suppose if it was as good as claimed we would have heard a lot more about it ..... perhaps not Snake Oil, but at £20 a 8kg / 160sq mtrs bag, its not cheap.

Organic feeds tend to be hit or miss, weather dependant more than the more chemical enhanced fertilisers that are adapt at breaking down and doing their job.
Yes organic ferts tend to be more expensive, perhaps they feed of those that want a more environment friendly alternative.

I went looking for the Neudorff products in several garden centres and nurseries and could only find the driveway algae cleaner which was expensive. I think it's great that a manufacturer are going for an organic option. Does anyone know where they sell the full range of products?

Went to a localish one that was said to stock Neudorff products and they seemed to have them all.

Have you looked up your area via the Stockist page -Neudorff : Stockists

Have a peep here and then ring to make sure they stock what you are after.
