    Hi

I am a total novice when it comes to gardening, so I am after some basic advice. We are having our garden sorted out after a long time! We would like to lay a nice lawn (one which creates the tram lines effect) (I hope that makes sense)!

Having called a local gardener/landscaping company which 'appears' to reflect a good reputation in the area (Birmingham/Solihull), I am a little confused as to the type of grass we should be going for.

I was previously going to go for a Rolawn grass, but the gardener has suggested that as this is cultivated in Yorkshire it does not bind in with the soil in this area. Not sure how true or relevant this is. Perhaps someone can explain and/or clarify. He has suggested we opt for Teal Turf (which is cultivated in the Worcester area. Teal Turf do two different types of turf, one is a premium and the other a landscaping type turf. Bearing in mind I am having to pay around £1600 for this project, I want to be certain that I am getting the right type of turf.

Can anyone advise if they have used Teal Turf and whether it is any good? If so, which type of turf did you opt for? My gardener suggests that I should be going for the landscaping one which is described as a budget type turf on the Teal website. He says that the premium one takes alot of caring! I am totally confused! Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards

    Asgar

you do not have to pay £1600 for good lawn .... wait till spring and seed the area ....

prepare the site proper and use a good seed .... check this:

Amenity Seed Products - Sports | BSH

one bag will cover approx 600 square meters

the stripes are not by the lawn type, but by the lawnmower used
