    Hi everyone.
Having just moved from a flat into a house & garden I'm in no way green fingered.
My lawn has a fair amount of moss etc but also a patch where there is no growth whatsoever.
What comes first? Do I concentrate on the bare patch with seeding etc or is it best to attack the weeds?
I'm not after a bowling green, but I would like it to look decent. Any help greatly appreciated.

I would do the following if you don't want to returf and that would be my way.

Rake the lawn to remove the moss and the accumulated debris. Moss can be sign of compacted soil.

Aereate - use a garden fork, and dig in, lever back a little, and add sharp sand to increase the drainage, then sow seed on the bare patches and water well. Protect the seed from the birds with cotton thread, trellised across the area.

Returfing might be a little easier at this time of year - you would just need to prepare the ground well.
