laying new lawn

    i am going to lay a new lawn,if i put down landscape fabric down to stop weeds growing. & then cover with 4 to 5 inches of top soil will new lawn on top take ok.

    Laburnum I am no expert in lawns but after an initial eeeek no, thinking about it, I think that could work if the soil was deep enough but you would need to feed it because the grass would exhaust the nutrients in the soil and have nowhere else to go for more. Mind it won't stop the weeds arriving - nothing does that - there are times I think astra turf would be easier :D

    Do you prefer grass or astro-turf?
    And Rodney said,......I dunno, I've never smoked astro-turf. :D
