Just bought one and it works a treat, not sure what to do with the leaves, they shred 10:1, shall i just add them to my compost bin or do the black plastic bag with holes in routine, (think this is possibly only meant for unshredded leaves). Thanks

Can't see that it would make much difference. If you have beech or oak leaves then it might be worth while making leaf mould. I just chuck them in a dark corner to rot down in the open air.
If you want to put them in the compost heap you can mix them up with lawn mowings.

We just store ours in plastic sacks and then add them to the bins and compost heap in thin layers the following year. Helps maintain a green-brown balance.

Dont put them on your main compost heap, because they will take longer to rot down than everything else.

I agree with Dave W, store them and gradually add them to your compost, mixed with grass cuttings they will soon compost down. David.

Wondering about this idea of rotting them in the black bin bag. If they are shredded then would they rot down quicker? Its fungi that do the rotting of leaves. If they were shredded then there would be a larger surface area than whole leaves. Would the fungi be able to do their work more quickly?
