We have apipe on a reel and it leaks where the pipe joins the reel. H has cut off the end and reattached, but it hasn't worked.
I also have a funky ladybird timer so I can turn my sprinkler on for half hour or so when I go to work, but that leaks everywhere!
    Any tips?
    Thanks

An age-old problem, I reckon! There was a thread recently about poor quality hose fittings, if I remember rightly.

Most of these connectors have a small black O-ring inside them which either wears or perishes - that may be the problem. They can be replaced. Or maybe other parts have worn?

Some fittings also leak if the hose attached to them is pulled sideways, even by its own weight. I've resorted to tying string round the hose and attaching to a post or something in the past - that may help.

Third issue might be using fittings from different manufacturers. Some fit together better than others.

I've collected up some electric solenoid valves from old washing machines which I'll switch on in short bursts using a normal plug-in timer (all earthed and in a waterproof box, of course)to make an automatic watering system when I get my veg plot up and running. That removes the need for "click-together" hose connectors except at the point of delivery, perhaps - e.g. to attach a sprinkler. 'Cos we're on a water meter, so leaks definitely cost us!
