I have a tree dropping loads of leaves right now. Right over my lawn. I'm not bothered about that, i've raked them off. Last year, i had put them all in a black bin bag, to make lovely mulch out all of them.

This year though, i wonder whether to leave some on the beds on the side to cover and mulch in in its own time.

I read from pete in another thread about nitrogen consuption from wood chips etc, i wondered if this happened from the leaves aswell.

Is it best to put it all in to a bin bag for mulching?

The only problem with leaving too many leaves on the beds over winter, is that they become an excellent hide for snails, slugs etc - and can give some plant crowns a problem with rot.

I leave a few leaves on the border, but not a layer - I rot them down over winter in black bags or in just an open bin

I would clear the lawn but leave them on the beds, you could always dig them in a bit to help them on there way leaves are very good for the soil.
