Hi all........when can I expect the leek seedlings to begin to sprout from the cluster of seeds that have formed on the tops of last year's leeks. Would it help them to germinate if I wrapped the clusters loosly in paper or plastic bags? Thanks Dave.

Not quite sure what you mean here Dave. The seeds won't germinate in the flower head in your photo, they need to be sown into compost. It's too late for getting leek seedlings at this time of year, really they need sowing in the spring. Best to grow them from fresh bought seed rather than saved seed as you don't know what you'll get from your own.

I think I know where your going but not sure all leeks have bulbils form on the seed heads.

I've heard of the northern exhibition pot leek growers doing this kind of thing.

Its vegetative propagation rather than seed propagation

I know next-to-squat about, but don't you have to trim the flower heads to get the vegetative bulbils forming?
