So I sowed some leek seeds nearly a month ago in the greenhouse in a propagator and they seem to be take ages to germinate and then once they had germinated have only grown about half an inch in 2 weeks.

Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

I think that's fairly normal. Do they look healthy otherwise? Also, we've had sunny days but often a cool wind and low night temps. I would just leave them to get on. If they are really failing you still have time to buy/sow some more.

Sounds normal to me. Most people moan that they cannot get them to Pencil Thickness by planting-out-time, and that they more accurately resemble Biro-refill, so whilst aspiring to Pencil Thickness be prepared that all your get is Biro-refill :)

I've found the tops look a bit burnt off. I think I have problems with too much Sun in the greenhouse at the moment as all my gardeners delight seedlings were burnt off in a few hours while I was at work the Sunday just gone.

That's what I thought but have noticed that the seedlings are still only just coming through even after nearly a month. I thought they were quicker to germinate but slow to grow on.

I have another packet of leeks of a different variety which I might try out to see if it's a difference in variety rather than my techniques.

Old seed? If not then sorry, no idea why and perhaps just sit it out and see how they do.

I'd definitely go with sowing a backup / alternative for "insurance"

Sound like old/duff seed to me. I've grown mine on an East facing windowsill and they're now in the coldhouse looking happy.

Don't think so. I only sowed mine this week.
