I bought a foxglove from a garden centre earlier this year - the foxglove is pretty poor but thought that a very strong weed had grown up against the root. Pulled at the plant to pull it up and an overwhelming smell of lemon came off of it. The leaves look like my mint herb but smell completely of lemon. Have Googled and apparently there is a lemon mint - would such a thing grow all by itself and is it worth keeping? :cnfs:

Lemon Balm is lovely - it attracts bees and will self-seed and grow well in the garden. In fact sometimes it grows TOO well!! :-)

Yup, I discovered a tiny patch of lemon balm growing between paving slabs earlier in the spring. I moved it and its now 2 feet high and doing brilliantly well.

It makes a terrific lovely sorbet, plus soothing infusions. Im not one for hot drinks but you can add it to your teas. I prefer making refreshing iced drinks with it- add mint, lemon peel or ginger with lots of ice.

If you merely brush past it, the aroma envelops an entire section of garden. One to keep you're lucky!
