Hi, as the title says, I wouldnt even call myself a newbie gardener. I know next to nothing about plants, I have the opposite to a green thumb but... I have a garden and I want it to be nice, and I want to learn to make gardening a pleasant experience and keep it up all year round. It's a nice size, about 80ft x 30ft and gets lots of sun.
here's some pics of my garden (more detailed ones on my website).
This first one was taken at the start of April - terrible isn't it? Unloved and just a mess. I am ashamed.
The next picture was taken today and I have been making progress to get the basics done before I start thinking about plants.
I feel this garden does have potential i just need to do take small steps in getting it looking nice.

Hi mgn and welcome to this great site. I think that you have already made a good start and you'll find lots of help here. I think rosa is right, a blossom tree would be very nice. Perhaps even a fruit tree so that you get something for your efforts? Good luck!

hi and thanks for the great welcome!
I do have a blackberry tree but it's to the left and out of the shot, and also a caterpillar tree (thats what i call them) and to the left in the pic is a sorry state for some kind of rose tree that was moved from elsewhere and never really took off (thats the story of my garden lol - it never really took off!) ;)
thanks again, and will look into bushes and blossom type trees as yes i think it would break up the length perfectly and add interest, it needs some interest!
