i have got some cut and grow again lettuce in a window box. However, i was wanting to plant some larger lettuces, like little gem. Can i grow them iin pots because i would prefer not to use up the veg patch because i am afraid to use up to much space in it.

    thanks

Hi GardenGuru welcome to the forum.

I think you can give anything a go in pots although they might just need a little more care than if they were in the ground what with watering and all....but on the plus side managing pests like slugs etc. would be far easier to control in pots than in the ground.

I'm sure the guys will give you some more advice far better than mine.Hel.xxx.

    hi gardenguru

im growing tom thumb in a 2ft window box at the moment they seem to be coming on very well,

the only thing i would say is try to grow the small ones if your using pots or you will end up with just a couple

    Hi Gardenguru,

If you want to grow lots of lettuce in a small space take a look at my topic 'Hydroponics - First Try'.

My little gems are doing rather well in the "plug pots" I sowed them in! I want to plant them out but waiting for the right time.

If they do well in plug pots, they will do well in say 6" pots!
