    Hello
I am a electrician and a client has contacted me about possibly making them a lighting rig for a football pitch to enhance photothinsis.
I am wondering if you could possibly give me some advice as to which would be the best type of light to use for this?
    I have found :
    http://www.basementlighting.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?page=1/PROD/hrlp
With a manufactured cover to make it weather proof.
    Also :
    http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/318927731/New_Bi_Spectrum_super_grow_light.html
The second is a new induction light which is said to be more engery effecient?? But i do not know much about these products.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thank alot

    Hi Mark.
To be honest I think that lighting an area the size of a football pitch to enhance photosynthesis would cost thousands. The electricity alone would run in many kilowatts and possibly into megawatts.
The grow lights you've seen only work in a very limited area and have to be in close proximity to the plants.
A better bet for your client would be to improve grass feeding.

    HI dave
Thanks for the reply, sorry i havn't explained very well these rigs are available to most groundsmans up and down the country but they are shipped in from abroad making them very expensive so this is not possible for most clubs.
What my client has asked for is a rig making up 10metres long consisiting of 10 lights on wheels for them to use in the goal mouth i just need to decide on the best light or lamp for the job ???

You need lamps that work in the daylight frequency range 6400K, as explained here: http://jungleseeds.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d108.html. Some of us are using that Lightwave T5 LW24 product at the bottom of the page (indoors of course).

I'm not sure what your client is tring to achieve, does he want to get the grass to grow better in the goalmouth area?

Yes JWK , the goal mouth see the most action and also the most wear so he wants to try and repair this area by using these rigs as it is used at other clubs for the same thing.

The 600w hortilux poot grow light is what is used on other lighting rigs i am just trying to box clever really and find out if there is a more green product on the market but which will deliver the same results?

You should be able to replicate a MLR fairly cheaply. How much do they cost to buy? The first light looks to be the best option out of your two as the second from what I can tell won't give you the amount of heat you need for a pitch.
