Hi Nash, If they were scented flowers (orientals) then they need potting or planting in ericaceous compost or loose, fairly acid soil. If potting, see if they'll divide easily and plant 6" deeper than they are now, about 4" apart. If they're really jammed together, just plant them as they are. Lily bulbs are a bit fragile!
Depending what your soil is like, you could plant them out in a semi-shady spot, same spacing, but you'll need to protect from slugs and snails. It's worth mixing a few slug pellets into the hole as well as some on top.
Asiatics are generally more brightly-coloured flowers but no scent. They're easier to grow in ordinary compost or loose soil, and don't need to be so deeply planted.
Whichever they are, keep them just damp through summer and they'll flower again next year, asiatics earlier than orientals.

:wub2: Orientals.....good luck! Oh, and keep an eye open for elongated red beetles and black squishy gunge on the leaves. The dreaded lily beetle...to be eradicated at all costs!
